Once you get 6 or more you may consider simply rehotkeying to other things and using the H key, as control grouping 6+ TCs becomes a bit tedious (though this is rare enough in 1v1s) A better method is to hotkey all of your town centers, and cycle through them-something like 5-c 6-c 7-c 8-c 9-c to build 5 villagers at once. Generally you don't need to look at your TC to produce villagers. I would highly suggest not relying too much on the town center hotkey (default H) because it autocenters your view on the town center. Double tap the number, and you will be centered on the unit. Then, when you press this same number in the future, you will select that same unit again-without having to know where it is. Select a unit, then hold down ctrl and press a number. You have multiple TCs and you are low on food so you can't queue up as many villagers as you'd want to, so you assign each TC to a number so you can quickly switch between the TCs to produce villagers without having to centre the camera on them. There's countless uses for this one, I'll mention a few: Your shepherds/boar-hunters happen to be right ontop of a farm and the farmer of that farm is indistinguishable from the shepherds/boar-hunters, and you don't wanna risk losing their inventory when you give them a new command - to prevent this, assign your shepherds/boar-hunters to a number in forehand. One of the most important ones, like others have said, is assigning buildings and characters to hotkeys 1-9.
